On the Stove Top

My kitchen survives on a minimal amount of pots and pans. At last count I had exactly three saucepans. It’s amazing how you can make do with just a few basic saucepans.

I have a large stockpot, that I use regularly for soups, stocks and curries. It also get’s a work out for rice and pasta when I have a large group of friends over.
My 2 litre saucepan is the work horse on my stove, cooks the veggies, rice, and pasta and anything else I can think of most of the time.

And last but not least is my 1 litre saucepan that is mainly used for sauces and gravies.

That’s not all I cook with, but it’s everything that that sits on top of the stove.

Accidental Hedonist has a great little article looking at the pro’s and cons of the various different types of saucepan materials.

My choice has always been heavy based stainless steel pans. Easy to clean and nice heat distribution across the bottom. What’s on your stove top ?

What’s with the ’s for plurals (you have pro’s and cons). Apostrophe-s is not and never has been a plural. Nor can you use it in verb tenses (get’s). I know the internet is supposed to be causal and all that, but come on! People read it and then think it is OK.

I write to be understood, following rules is never a lot of fun. If everyone did it in the kitchen we’d all still be eating wilderbeast roasted over an open fire every night for dinner.
